We are looking for you who want to help shape tomorrow's Ale
With us, you will deliver services of the highest quality to the residents of Ale. Together, 2,500 employees create Ale, the municipality that focuses on its inhabitants and their needs. Become one of us!
Do you want to help strengthen the economic security of Ale residents?
About the workplace
The Employment and Social Assistance Unit is in an exciting phase of development where we strive to change and improve our working methods in combination with the introduction of new social services legislation.
We aim to create a future for those Ale residents who need our interventions so that they can live an independent and meaningful life. Our overarching goal is to work for each individual to achieve an independent life with their own livelihood. We focus on strengthening our social work to better support and guide individuals on their journey to independence by putting the individual at the center and adapting our support to each person's unique needs and circumstances.
The unit is part of the individual and family care services. All units collaborate closely to meet the needs of those we serve in the best way possible. The Employment and Social Assistance Unit handles five main areas: labor market, social assistance, integration, housing, and budget and debt counseling. The unit is led by two unit managers, two senior social workers, and a team leader.
The office is centrally located in Nödinge center and is easily accessible by public transport. We are committed to maintaining a salutogenic approach towards each other and those we serve. In the unit, we work closely with operations because we believe that the best solutions come from those working in core operations.
Job Responsibilities
With us, you will have an important and meaningful role where you provide qualified advice and support to individuals who need help creating a long-term sustainable economy. The assignment is based on the principle of help to self-help – your work is about giving people tools, knowledge, and guidance so they can take control of their financial situation. This can involve everything from budgeting to managing debts or applying for debt relief.
In this role, you will work both independently and in close collaboration with other actors. You will have many points of contact, including with social services, the Enforcement Authority, and other authorities. The work requires sensitivity and the ability to build trust in meetings with people in economically vulnerable life situations. At the same time, you need to maintain a clear boundary between the advisory role and the exercise of authority and ensure that the advice is given professionally, independently, and factually.
Part of the assignment is preventive, which means you will sometimes hold information meetings for, for example, municipal employees, students, or community organizations. Through your engagement, you will also contribute to developing working methods and collaborations as well as the continued development of the organization in line with changes in the new social services legislation.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree in, for example, economics, social work, law, political science, or another relevant field.
- Excellent ability to express yourself in speech and writing.
- Good analytical and empathetic skills as well as the ability to adapt communication to the recipient.
- Ability to structure, plan, and take responsibility for your work independently.
- A service-oriented and positive attitude.
It is an advantage if you have experience working with the Enforcement Authority, financial advice at a bank, or social work in the private or public sector.
- Knowledge of the public assignment, legislation, and specific knowledge in personal finance.
- Experience working with the BOSS+ system.
- Good computer skills and high IT maturity.
Other
We place great importance on your ability to meet people in a respectful, individualized, and professional manner. To thrive in this role, you need to demonstrate integrity, responsibility, and the ability to balance supportive advice with clear boundaries. You have a natural sensitivity in meetings with people and a strong desire to provide support that leads to increased independence – help to self-help.
