The County Administrative Board is a driving force for a sustainable society

We work together with authorities, municipalities, and other stakeholders focusing on Västra Götaland County and our 1.7 million inhabitants.

The County Administrative Board has a broad operation and a very important role in several areas of society. This includes the highly relevant challenges of regional growth, implementing the green transition, developing civil defense, and nurturing democracy.

The County Administrative Board is a regional government authority with about 1,000 friendly and competent employees. We operate in several locations in Västra Götaland but also throughout Sweden as we are responsible for the IT operations for all county administrative boards.

About the job

We are now looking for two county lawyers to strengthen our work with processing and decisions in cases of appealed municipal decisions according to the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code.

About the unit and function

At the Legal Unit, about 90 people work with appealed municipal decisions, various application matters, registration issues, supervision, and internal legal support, as well as other case management.

The Building Law function is one of five functions within the Legal Unit. Currently, we have 14 employees with different competencies working in Gothenburg, Mariestad, Skara, and Vänersborg.

Job description

Within case processing, we work with efficient, uniform working methods and routines, good service and information, as well as fast and accurate processing. You will share responsibility for achieving the unit's goals. The development of the operation is an ongoing process, and we work to strengthen collaboration both within and between the county administrative boards.

You enjoy being part of a team while also working independently and checking in with the workgroup as needed. You will also collaborate with experts from other parts of the authority depending on the competencies required by the case.

You need to have the ability to make legally secure assessments and priorities effectively and independently. We value that you adapt your work effort regarding both time and execution to meet the needs and goals of the operation. For us, it is important that there is a continuous dialogue within the workgroup about working methods and procedures for an efficient operation with reasonable processing times.

As an employee at the County Administrative Board, you may need to perform other tasks within the Legal Unit and the authority. We are a preparedness authority, and we may receive temporary assignments that need to be resolved quickly. Therefore, it is a prerequisite that you have an interest in working in several areas when the opportunity arises.

The position is located in Gothenburg, Vänersborg, or Mariestad. We offer good opportunities for remote work during part of the working hours.

Travel is included in the position, and we try to use buses and trains as much as possible when we travel.

Meritorious

  • Current, extensive, and relevant experience in the application of the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code at a county administrative board or another authority, or equivalent experience from the private sector
  • Experience as a decision-maker in legal matters
