Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Brättegården
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work, or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS Youth Home Brättegården is located just outside Vänersborg. We receive non-compulsory school-age girls with psychosocial issues, mental health problems, as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse.
Job Description
Are you motivated to help young people in vulnerable life situations? Then apply for the position of treatment pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Brättegården. Brättegården is planning to establish a new discharge and discharge preparation department in Vänersborg or Trollhättan and is therefore looking for treatment pedagogues.
As a treatment pedagogue in our discharge and discharge preparation department, you will play an important role in the young person's journey towards a more independent life. You will work in a team with other treatment pedagogues, a group leader, and a treatment secretary. The department is led by a unit manager. Together, you are responsible for ensuring that the young people living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need.
Young people in our discharge and discharge preparation departments will live and spend their free time in apartments or other housing forms outside the youth home's area. The young people attend external schools or have internships. Your focus is to support the young person in establishing and maintaining effective strategies and skills for life outside the youth home. You will follow and support young people in activities such as school/internship and in contact with, for example, healthcare, as well as in their free time and at home with practical and social issues. Treatment activities mainly consist of skills training aimed at preparing the young person for a functioning life after their time at SiS, both practically and socially. Skills training also involves translating new strategies developed in treatment into everyday life outside the youth home. Your role is to be a safe adult support, to guide, and to create structure in daily life.
With the support of your knowledge in social care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans, and documentation is an important part of your work. You work in a legally secure manner, manage planning and follow-up of our operations, and maintain safety.
This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable children and young people who are on their way back to a life outside the youth home. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.
Working hours are according to schedule – day, evening, and weekend.
Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in the role of treatment pedagogue, you are motivated to work with and help people in vulnerable life situations. The operational work and meeting with young people are your main focus. You are listening and affirming in your interactions with young people and have a professional approach. As a person, you are secure in yourself and have an easy time establishing relationships with young people as well as with others in the staff group through good communication and teamwork skills. The work can sometimes be challenging and requires you to be stable and remain calm even in stressful situations.
You should also have:
- A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent.
- A valid driver's license (B)
