Department 112 O in Gävle primarily offers acute orthopedic care but also planned surgery and day surgery activities. Here we operate, treat, and care for patients with diseases, pains, and injuries in bones and muscles. Currently, we have at least 24 care places distributed across four care teams. As an assistant nurse, you are a central part of the interdisciplinary team around the patient, together with, among others, nurses, care coordinators, doctors, and physiotherapists. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an assistant nurse with us, you will perform standard tasks common in an acute care department. You will also observe changes and problems in the patient's condition where you report observations to the responsible nurse. With us, we work based on the Green Cross, which is a tool to identify risks and care injuries that create the basis for improvement work that increases patient safety.

As an assistant nurse with us, you will get to work with:

• basic care such as mobilization, hygiene, elimination, and nutrition
• wound dressing, dressing changes under negative pressure treatment according to medical orders, and sampling
• monitoring vital parameters based on the assessment tool NEWS 2
• documentation in the journal system.

We have round-the-clock operations, which means that you as an assistant nurse with us will work day, evening, and weekend shifts as well as nights by agreement. However, no night shifts during the first year. We apply a favorable night agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who maintains structure and focus even under high work pace. You are flexible, attentive, and have good cooperation skills as well as being constructive in change and development work.

In the role of assistant nurse, you should:

• be a qualified assistant nurse
• be able to communicate fluently in Swedish in both speech and writing.

For this position, it is highly meritorious if you have experience in inpatient care, meaning that you have worked in a hospital ward before.

Information about the title assistant nurse

As of July 1, 2023, the title assistant nurse became a protected professional title. This means that one will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title assistant nurse within health and care. You can apply for the certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in health and care, but with a different title than assistant nurse. In Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant until your certificate is submitted.
