Job Description
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations. SiS youth home Bergsmansgården receives non-compulsory school girls. We operate in Brotorp, Fjugesta, and Gammelbo north of Lindesberg. The girls placed with us are cared for under the law with special provisions for the care of young people (LVU) due to issues with substance abuse, criminality, or socially destructive behavior.
We are looking for a treatment educator for our newly opened department in Gammelbo outside Lindesberg. The role of the treatment educator means that you, together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, are responsible for ensuring that the young people receive care, treatment, and education. The work includes ongoing documentation in the young people's journals. You are expected to contribute to ensuring that the young people receive high-quality care and that safety is maintained by following the applicable routines. The work includes motivational conversations, documentation, cooking, and cleaning. You will also be a contact person for some of the young people. This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in contributing to making a difference and bringing life-changing transformations for vulnerable youth. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.
Working hours are according to a schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations.
Qualifications
To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of people. You are motivated to help individuals in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's core values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are secure in yourself and can easily build relationships with both young people and other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You are collaborative and can handle conflicts constructively.
You should also have:
- A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) focused on social/pedagogical treatment work or an equivalent degree from a university.
- A valid driver's license (B).
- Good Swedish language skills in both speech and writing.
Meritorious:
- Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., in psychiatry or LSS care.
- Experience from client-facing positions in the Prison and Probation Service, e.g., as a correctional officer.
- Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse treatment, youth care, young girls, etc.).
At SiS, we value good employee engagement. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more about our employee engagement.
Employment:
The position is a permanent full-time employment that begins with a six-month probationary period. The start date is January 12, 2026. Start date is negotiable.
