Department of Aquatic Resources
We are looking for new staff at the Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua), Coastal Laboratory. You will contribute to our work in providing advice to management and developing knowledge for sustainable use of ecosystems in coastal and marine areas. You will particularly contribute to the development of integrated ecosystem analyses as support for ecosystem-based management.
About the job
You will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders in society and contribute to scientific publications. Your work will support ongoing projects within integrated ecosystem analysis and ecosystem-based management, including the development of measures for coastal ecosystems. You will perform statistical analyses of time series and spatial data on ecosystems and human activities, as well as participate in more holistic analyses of socio-ecosystems. You will also contribute to general tasks that support the ecosystem analysis unit and the activities at SLU Aqua.
The tasks may change over time depending on the needs of the organization.
Your background
You have good knowledge in marine ecology and ecosystem-based management. As a person, you are responsible and strong in written and oral communication. You enjoy working in a team and have an easy time learning new things. You are accustomed to working systematically and demonstrating a flexible approach. Qualifications and expertise as listed below are emphasized. Applicants are expected to provide examples of these in their application.
You should have:
- Knowledge in marine biology and marine ecological processes important for the ecosystems of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea
- Documented competence in quantitative analyses
- Capacity to work with complex data
- Strong communication skills in English
It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience in analyzing data from marine environmental monitoring
- Experience in analyzing qualitative data
- Good knowledge of Swedish
- High scientific merit
Eligibility: PhD in ecology or another relevant field
