As a psychologist in the elderly team, you will be offered a varied and challenging job focused on specialized care with an emphasis on geriatric psychiatry. Welcome to apply to our elderly team!

Job Responsibilities

We are a team specializing in geriatric psychiatry. Our patients often have cognitive impairments and/or more severe somatic illnesses in addition to psychiatric issues. We have a team-focused approach that allows us to benefit from each other's knowledge and experiences. We often form a cross-professional team around the patient where we collaborate within the team as well as with other parts of the healthcare system and other stakeholders. Our patients have a designated primary care contact who follows them throughout their treatment.

The target group for the elderly team is patients over 65 with geriatric psychiatric needs. The team has a regional mandate which makes us mobile and allows us to offer home visits.

As a psychologist with us, you will work with initial assessments, various types of investigations, including cognitive and neuropsychiatric assessments, as well as psychological treatment. As a psychologist, you will also participate in the work of assessing referrals. Supervision of colleagues and consultations with other parts of the healthcare system may occur upon request.

The Adult Psychiatric Clinic 2 is part of the specialist psychiatry in Region Västmanland. The clinic is a pleasant workplace characterized by openness, good community, and professionalism. New as a Psychologist

For newly licensed psychologists, we offer a two-year competence package to provide a smoother transition between the role of PTP psychologist and licensed psychologist.

The competence package includes:

  • Specialized course
  • Participation in a national/nordic congress
  • Observation in primary care, habilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, or forensic psychiatry (a total of five days)
  • Opportunity to take a supervisor training course in year 2
  • Personal follow-up by an experienced psychologist

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed psychologist who has an interest and experience in psychiatry, geriatrics, or geriatric psychiatry. Specific experience with the target group and knowledge of dementia/cognitive impairment and neuropsychiatry is advantageous. Ongoing or completed specialist training in neuropsychology, clinical adult psychology, or psychological treatment/psychotherapy is also advantageous. You must be able to communicate effectively in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have a valid driver's license as travel may be required in the position. Since we are a relatively new team, it is beneficial if you have an interest in further developing the operations.
