About the job

You will work with radiographic examinations and prepare ultrasound examinations on small animals and/or horses. Work with horses on MRI and during scintigraphic examinations is also included.

You will work towards set goals according to the UDS mission. For all employees at the diagnostic imaging clinic, supervision and teaching of future veterinary nurses, veterinary students, and interns from animal high schools are included.

The working hours are currently scheduled for weekdays during the day.

Your background

You are a licensed veterinary nurse, acting veterinary nurse, or animal caretaker level 3 or 2. You have a good ability to handle both horses and small animals.

You have experience working at a diagnostic imaging clinic. You have worked with horses in MRI and scintigraphic examinations. You have experience conducting radiographic examinations and preparing ultrasound examinations on small animals and/or horses.

Your knowledge of Swedish and English is good, as the diagnostic imaging clinic has a large international exchange.

You are accustomed to handling computers and information systems in a veterinary hospital environment.

You have an interest and possibly experience in teaching.

Experience from previous work at the University Animal Hospital is an advantage.

You value good relationships with colleagues and have good collaboration skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities such as teamwork, curiosity, motivation, interest in communication, and service. As a person, you are structured, proactive, and can occasionally handle pressured and logistically challenging situations.

About us

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. Our activities span all animal species.

At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced veterinary care go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care for companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the future of veterinary care.

Under one roof, we offer healthcare for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, operationally adapted facilities, we have access to advanced diagnostic imaging and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. UDS also includes an ambulatory clinic that travels to stables and farms to examine and treat horses and livestock.

The diagnostic imaging unit is one of the leading veterinary diagnostic imaging centers in Europe, and we are an approved training site for the European specialist examination in the subject, both for small and large animals. The unit is well-equipped with modern X-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, 64-slice CT for small and large animals, 1.5 T MRI for small animals, 0.27 T MRI system for standing horses, and scintigraphy for small and large animals, including our own Hotlab.

We have many international contacts, and our nurses specialize in diagnostic imaging. We have about 14 employees divided into radiologists and radiologic technicians.
