Department of Clinical Sciences
We are now looking for an experienced veterinarian (clinical pathologist) for the clinical chemistry laboratory at the animal hospital, which is a specialist laboratory in veterinary clinical chemical diagnostics. We analyze clinical samples and research samples from all animal species. The samples come from all over Sweden. The clinical chemistry laboratory employs about 15 staff members, including veterinarians (clinical pathologists), biomedical analysts, and other laboratory personnel.
About the Job
You will be part of our dedicated veterinary group, which has an advisory role for UDS, other clinics, and veterinarians across Sweden. The position involves independently assessing cytological and hematological samples. Telephone consultations, quality work, analysis work, and engagement in various areas of responsibility are also part of your duties. Since we serve as a resource for teaching and research at SLU and UDS, teaching in clinical chemistry and supervising students and ECVCP residents will also be included. Working hours are mainly weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, but other hours may occur.
Your Background
Applicants should have Swedish, European, or equivalent veterinary licensure. You have experience and interest in clinical chemical diagnostics. Since SLU is a bilingual workplace and the veterinarians at the clinical chemistry laboratory conduct telephone consultations and write test results in Swedish, you need to be proficient in both Swedish and English. If Swedish is not your native language, SLU offers language courses to provide you as an employee with good opportunities to learn Swedish.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. You want to understand others' needs and perspectives and share your knowledge in a pedagogical manner because you see that it creates the best conditions for the operation. You are communicative, customer and service-oriented, and find it easy to collaborate with others.
You plan your work independently and adapt tasks according to the needs of the operation. You easily see where and how you can facilitate and support your colleagues and students, while also being meticulous and quality-conscious.
Employees at the animal hospital can apply for research grants to conduct research within their scientific field for a limited scope/time.
Requirements
- You are a licensed veterinarian.
- You have documented knowledge and extensive experience in cytological, hematological, clinical chemical, and endocrinological veterinary laboratory diagnostics.
- You express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and/or English.
- You are an experienced computer user.
Meritorious
- You are a European or American specialist in veterinary clinical pathology (Dipl. ECVCP/ACVCP).
- You have experience in supervising and teaching students and/or residents.
- You are proficient in both Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.
