Department of Pediatric Surgery

Little hearts need great care! We are a small hospital within the large, and it is precisely in the small that our greatness lies. Here, all the expertise a sick child may need is available, along with good collaboration, respect, and care. We offer a really good introduction for newcomers and many interesting opportunities for development. There is also unexpectedly much joy in what can sometimes be very difficult. We take care of the children and their families, and we take care of each other – because we know that we do a much better job together!

Our Operations

At the Academic Children's Hospital, the Pediatric Surgery section provides both planned care and emergency admissions around the clock for all specialties. Our operations include surgery, urology, orthopedics, neurology/neurosurgery, and hand surgery. We also run a shared daycare service. The children who come to us are aged from newborns up to 18 years old. We receive patients from the entire Mälardalen and Norrland regions.

We place great focus on the child's perspective and work in teams together with the child and family. It is important for us that both children and parents feel well prepared, as this makes the care process calmer and safer. In this work, all of us who work in the children's department, together with the multidisciplinary team at the children's hospital, play an important role. All our work, from preparatory information about the upcoming procedure to aftercare on the ward, is done with great respect for the child. There are many laughs in a day spent with children and families.

Your Qualifications

You are a licensed nurse with a genuine interest in working with children and their families. We prefer that you have a few years of experience in the profession.

Specialist training in pediatric healthcare or previous experience in pediatric surgery/pediatric care is an advantage.
