Are you a nurse with an interest in surgical care?
Do you want to work in a workplace with a strong focus on nursing where you can make a real difference for patients? Then department 70D might be the right place for you!
Our Operations
The area of surgery/urology includes three surgical wards and one urology ward, as well as five outpatient clinics where we provide advanced surgical and urological care. We are a research-intensive clinic with close collaboration with Uppsala University, where education and continuous professional development are an integral part of our work – all to ensure that you as an employee feel secure and have the opportunity to grow in your professional role.
At surgical ward 70D, we work with highly specialized care in colorectal, endocrine, and emergency surgery. Our patients come to us for both planned (elective) and emergency surgeries. We are proud to be one of four hospitals in the country authorized to conduct national highly specialized care (NHV) with HIPEC, for patients with metastatic peritoneal cancer and endocrine abdominal tumors. Patients from the emergency section come with acute conditions requiring surgical treatment. Common diagnoses may include cholecystitis, pancreatitis, ileus, or gastrointestinal bleeding, as well as trauma from falls, traffic accidents, etc. Patients are admitted via the emergency department or as direct admissions from other hospitals. The combination of elective and emergency surgery creates a dynamic and educational work environment where no day is the same.
Your Mission
As a nurse on 70D, you will have the opportunity to work in a competent and dedicated team consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, pharmacists, and other health professionals. We work together with the patient at the center, using the framework Fundamentals of Care as the basis for our person-centered approach.
On our ward, specialized nurses with advanced competencies in guidance and surgical patients work. They spend part of their time on introduction, training, and clinical supervision of newly hired nurses to ensure you have a secure and good start with us. As a newcomer in the role, you will work with advanced surgical care under the clinical supervision of experienced colleagues. You will gain a broad foundational competence in surgery and emergency care while also having the opportunity to develop in a specific area. We offer the possibility of paid specialist training in surgical care if you wish to deepen your knowledge for the surgical patient.
With us, you will:
- Work with both emergency and planned surgery
- Meet patients from 15 years of age with various backgrounds and care needs
- Develop your competence in areas such as postoperative pain management, wound and drain care, fluid balance, and nutrition
- Be part of a strong team with specialist nurses, clinical nursing leaders, and section responsible nurses driving development forward
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse – whether you are newly graduated or have previous experience. You have a genuine interest in surgical care and thrive in a person-centered work approach. You are responsible, structured, and confident in leading, planning, and prioritizing your work. You contribute to good collaboration in the team and show respect and attentiveness in your interactions with colleagues and patients. Personal suitability is highly valued.

- A well-structured introduction program of five weeks for those new to the profession
- An individualized introduction for those with previous experience
- Clinical supervision by experienced colleagues and specialist nurses
