Staff Member for the Sterile Central at Gävle Hospital

We are now looking for a staff member for our sterile central at Gävle Hospital who is passionate about their work and wants to continue developing with us. We have two retirements that need to be filled. We are ISO-certified and provide our customers with complete, clean, and sterile reusable instruments. We are a team of about 20 employees, consisting of staff with competencies such as sterile technicians and nursing assistants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

At the sterile central, we clean, package, sterilize, and dispatch the surgical instruments and other tools used for surgeries and medical care to the hospital's departments, clinics, health centers, and private practices in the region. The sterile central is a modern and well-equipped unit that continuously works to ensure good quality, adhering to the laws, norms, and standards applicable to sterilization management. As an employee with us, you play an important role in the surgical flow by ensuring that the medical technical products such as instruments and equipment belonging to the sterile central are properly maintained. You ensure traceability and work towards increased patient safety.

As a sterile technician/nursing assistant with us, you will work with:

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is primarily trained as a sterile technician with a medical technical interest and a high level of hygiene awareness. The job requires that you can work independently as well as in a team, and that you are attentive, stable, and willing to help others. You have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively and can independently drive your work forward. We see that you are a person who is receptive and has an easy time collaborating and communicating with others. You appreciate a flexible job in a work environment with varied work pace.

As a sterile technician/nursing assistant with us, you should:

• be a trained sterile technician or be about to complete your degree shortly, or be a trained nursing assistant.

For this position, it is advantageous if you have professional experience from a sterile central.

Information about the nursing assistant title

As of July 1, 2023, the title nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within healthcare and social services. You can apply for the certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in healthcare and social services, but with a different title than nursing assistant. In Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant until your certificate is submitted.
