The city of Västerås is investing and starting an operational support team that will strengthen schools' competence regarding children and students with neuropsychiatric disabilities. We are looking for two confident and engaged employees who want to increase knowledge about NPF and create better conditions for all children to succeed in their schoolwork.

Your tasks

You will actively work through observation, mapping, guidance, and follow-up at the individual level directed towards preschool, lower grades of primary school, and after-school care. The assignment consists of working with the child/student and the adults around them (including guardians) with the goal of improving the learning environment and supporting schools in compensating for the challenges that arise from the disability. You will guide and coach educators and school staff, offer professional development and training initiatives, and work preventively by developing methods and approaches that strengthen schools' ability to meet children and students with NPF. You will collaborate with preschool BHT and primary school EHT during ongoing initiatives and transitions. The work involves switching between analysis, dialogue, practical support, and reflection together with staff groups.

Your competence

We are looking for someone who is a special educator, licensed psychologist, behavioral scientist, social worker, or social pedagogue and who has experience in guiding and developing school staff in issues related to students with NPF. It is an advantage if you have worked with mapping and observation within the school, are experienced in developing educational materials, and have experience collaborating with, for example, social services.

You thrive in meeting people and find it easy to build trusting relationships, both with students and staff. In this role, you need to be able to take your own initiatives and drive issues forward, while being clear and receptive in your communication. You are comfortable planning your work, creating structure, and following processes over time in close collaboration with colleagues and the school's student health team.
