Resident Physician in Clinical Microbiology

Job Responsibilities

As a resident physician with us, you will engage in clinical training under supervision. You will participate in the reading and assessment of microbiological samples and be involved in daytime on-call duties. A significant part of the work consists of development and quality improvement efforts aimed at optimizing the performance of analytical methods and ensuring that technological advancements are utilized. Some parts of the training are conducted at a university clinic. You will also participate in educational networks and attend internal and external courses according to the residency training plan. We encourage you to have an interest in conducting research.

About the Workplace

At Laboratory Medicine, you are welcomed into an organization that, in addition to clinical microbiology, includes specialties such as clinical chemistry, clinical pathology, and transfusion medicine. We have about 200 employees and are located at four hospitals in Västmanland.

Laboratory Medicine works for good and safe healthcare in a timely manner. At the Microbiology Laboratory, professionals such as biomedical analysts, physicians, microbiologists, molecular biologists, chemists, and laboratory engineers work together. Laboratory Medicine is accredited according to the ISO15189 standard.

Clinical microbiology is responsible for all microbiological laboratory diagnostics within the Västmanland Region, and the operations are based at Västerås Hospital.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with strong theoretical medical knowledge and skills. Experience working in laboratory medicine, particularly in clinical microbiology, is highly meritorious. You have good knowledge of both Swedish and English.

We value personal maturity as well as being meticulous and well aware of the importance of quality and structure in your work. You are self-driven, proactive, and flexible in your approach and have a good ability to structure your working time. You are curious and problem-solving oriented. You care about good communication and collaborate well with others across all professional categories. You have good judgment, are meticulous, and quality-conscious. We also appreciate an interest in research.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Employment Conditions

Permanent position, full-time. Start date by agreement.
