Do you want to work in a unique environment?
Neonatal Unit 69 is a shared care unit for sick newborns and premature infants, as well as their mothers. Here, you will work with the care of the small child and its family in a unique and stimulating work environment.
Job Responsibilities
After your introduction, you will have the opportunity to develop over time in your tasks as a nurse, which consist of qualified care, acute management, and intensive care of sick newborns and premature infants. You will meet children with varying lengths of stay and care needs, and no two days are alike. You will support new parents in their process of getting to know and bond with their new family member. You will work in a team with pediatric nurses and doctors, where collaboration within and between teams is important. As a newly hired nurse, you will always have an experienced colleague at hand.
The introduction consists of 8–10 weeks of onboarding in the department, where you will initially learn the basics of neonatal care before developing to take on your own responsibilities as a nurse. Additionally, you will attend the department's own introductory training over 4 full days. Newly graduated nurses are also offered to participate in Region Västmanland's general introductory training.
Scheduling is tailored to individuals and the organization in TESSA, and we work according to Region Västmanland's working time model.
About the Workplace
The Children's Clinic is like a small hospital within the larger one. Here, all the competencies a sick child might need are available. We take care of the children and their families, and we take care of each other – because we know we do a much better job together.
The unit cares for sick newborns and premature infants from week 28. Approximately 400 children are cared for each year in the unit's 10 beds, of which 3 are intensive care beds. The care is family-centered, and the children are cared for alongside their parents. For a safe transition to home, we offer Permission Reception or Home Care at the end of the care period. We have a close collaboration with the Women's Clinic, which cares for the newly delivered women in our department. The operation is conducted in modern facilities with several single rooms, allowing for extended shared care and a good working environment. We have pediatric nurses, nurses, pediatric specialists, doctors, and paramedical professionals working with us.
We asked two of our pediatric nurses what the best part of working with us is:
"In my job, I not only have the opportunity to make a difference for families in acute situations. I also have the chance to leave a mark on how they will remember their first time as parents. I get to help strengthen the parental role and promote bonding."
/Maria, Pediatric Nurse
"My tasks are very varied; one day I support parents in bathing their child for the first time. The next day, I might run to an alarm at the delivery room and care for a child on a ventilator. This means I have an exciting job where not every day looks the same; the variation also allows me to recharge mentally after more intense periods."
/Elin, Pediatric Nurse

Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. If you are also a specialist nurse in pediatric health care or have experience in neonatal care or pediatric care, it is an advantage but not a requirement. Newly graduated nurses are also warmly welcomed to apply.

You have an empathetic ability that allows you to understand someone else's perspective or situation without taking over their feelings. Furthermore, you are flexible and easily adapt to new circumstances. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively and, of course, have good collaboration skills. Personal qualities are of great importance.
