JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Are you a person who loves to meet people and is passionate about history and science? Do you want to work on an island where no day is the same? Then you are the one we are looking for!
As a museum host at the Tycho Brahe Museum, you are a central part of providing our visitors with a memorable experience. You guide groups through stories about Tycho Brahe, astronomy, and natural sciences. You staff our underground observatory and ensure that each visit is characterized by knowledge, service, and engagement. You alternate between tours, the shop, gardening, and events in an environment that breathes history. Your workday may include, among other things:
- Conducting guided tours for visitors
- Representing the museum and providing good service to our visitors
- Staffing the museum's various departments, including the underground observatory
- Sales of tickets and souvenirs in the museum shop
- Local and garden maintenance and upkeep of the museum area
- Working at events during evenings and weekends

QUALIFICATIONS
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is engaged, curious, and has a genuine desire to create memorable experiences for our visitors. You enjoy meeting people and have an easy time communicating in an inspiring and pedagogical way. Your pedagogical ability is crucial for the museum's service to meet the quality we want to achieve. We are looking for someone who wants to spread interest in history - and the history of science in particular. The role requires you to be solution-oriented, see opportunities where others see obstacles, and adapt quickly to changing situations. We see that you are flexible, proactive, and enjoy varied tasks, including practical ones. In this unique work environment, we collaborate on everything from guiding to gardening. You are resilient and remain calm even when the pace is high, while also being meticulous and responsible.
Collaboration is a given with us, but you also need to be able to work independently and take your own initiative. We want a positive employee in our engaged team - someone who enjoys variation and who, with energy and creativity, contributes to providing our visitors with an extraordinary experience - therefore we place great importance on your personal competencies.
Competence Requirements
- Good knowledge and a genuine interest in history
- Experience as a guide or in a service profession, pedagogical work, or other experience that can be deemed equivalent
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
Desirable Knowledge
Experience in retail and cash handling is highly desirable. As an employee with us, fluency in Swedish and English is a requirement. In addition, proficiency in additional languages such as Danish or German is desirable. A genuine interest in history and good knowledge of the subject is a given, and knowledge of the history of science and natural sciences is particularly meritorious. Knowledge of astronomy is very relevant to the museum and therefore particularly meritorious.
