About the workplace

The schools of Helsingborg municipality are a resourceful and value-driven organization. Here, as an employee, you become an important part of our shared vision to create the best school for every child and student.

Västra Berga School is a primary school with grades F-9 and an adapted primary school for grades 1-9. We have about 330 students and 80 employees. We are a resourceful school with a desire and ability to change and develop our operations. The school is within walking distance from Maria Station, and the city bus stops just outside.

At Västra Berga School, we see ourselves as part of a global context where our operations are characterized by the equal value of all. With an accessible learning environment, a democratic approach, and a sense of belonging, we create conditions for sustainable learning. This is characterized by the students' desire to learn, which we create through participation, high expectations, and a clear context.

At Västra Berga, we believe that communication is a prerequisite for an accessible learning environment, equitable education, and social community. Students develop their own identity in a communicative context. Therefore, communication is not just a means but a goal for the operations.

Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for a qualified teaching assistant for our adapted primary school in a lower grade class with a subject area focus. In your role as a teaching assistant, you will support and assist students in their continued knowledge development and, most importantly, their independence.

As a teaching assistant, you will share responsibility for conducting lessons in the classroom together with the teacher and your colleagues. You will carry out educational activities tailored to both the group's and the individual's specific needs while working to create and maintain an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student feels welcome and respected. An important responsibility is to actively collaborate with guardians to build good relationships and ensure open communication. You will also participate in following up and evaluating students' progress in collaboration with the work team, adjusting teaching as needed to better meet students' individual needs.

After school hours, you will be part of a team at the after-school center, where you are expected to take responsibility for all students in the F-1 group as well as students from the adapted primary school together with your colleagues. The after-school center is based on the students' continued knowledge development, which means you will actively participate in planning activities carried out in the afternoons. Since language and communication are one of the school's operational goals, you are expected to conduct activities that promote language/communication.

What We Offer

We offer you a varied, responsible, and stimulating job with opportunities for personal development. The workplace is smoke-free and health-conscious.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with training as a teaching assistant and experience from adapted primary school. You must master the Swedish language fluently in both speech and writing and have strong communication skills that help you build positive relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. It is an advantage if you know TAKK and/or visual support, as this is used as an alternative way to communicate with our students. We value your commitment to meeting students' individual needs, and we are looking for a person who is relational and skilled at managing and de-escalating situations in a low-arousal and friendly manner.
