Your Role

A vessel on the surface of the sea, moving quickly through the waves and actively using its radar and transmitters will be detectable, identifiable, and combatable. Detection and identification occur through the signatures the vessel creates above and below the waterline. Therefore, it is crucial to have a good understanding of the vessel's signatures to minimize them if required.

As a signature development engineer, you, along with others at Saab Kockums, will prevent and reduce the risks faced by Saab's surface vessels.

As a development engineer in signature technology, you will be part of the "Naval Architecture and Signature" section. This section includes the development of new surface vessels, EMC, environmental testing, and signatures. Within the section, you will be responsible for your technical area.

Your Future Responsibilities

Your future responsibilities will include designing and implementing technical solutions to minimize signatures on surface vessels. This means you will work with a wide range of technical systems onboard that can create signatures, such as engines, pumps, piping systems, ventilation systems, and also with systems that can reduce signatures, such as magnetic signature reduction systems.

Main Responsibilities

• Participate in the early concept phase to establish requirements and goals for low signatures
• Identify and analyze risks that may affect signature performance
• Perform technical analyses, measurements, and simulations to continuously improve and optimize Saab's systems
• Verify technical solutions and ensure they meet customer requirements

Work location: Karlskrona. Travel may occur, both domestically and internationally.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering physics, electrical engineering, or computer engineering
• Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with military sensors
• Maritime connection or background in the Armed Forces

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may involve requirements for certain citizenship.
