About us

The Finance function at Chalmers is characterized by a professional management of our financial control and financial administration. The function is represented both in the operational work at our 13 departments and in the university-wide management with its support organizations.

This position is located at our central operational support, in the Planning, Analysis, and Finance department within the Operational Controlling unit.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has an academic degree in finance or IT, vocational training in finance or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in qualified financial work including accounting, budgeting, and closing work
  • Has experience in project management and project accounting.
  • Is familiar with IT-related cost models and understands complex project environments.
  • Has good analytical skills and is confident in communicating financial insights to various stakeholders.
  • Has experience working with financial and administrative support systems
  • Is proactive, structured, and enjoys working in a dynamic organization.
  • Has a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

It is an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience in operational project accounting, financial control, and financial administration within IT
  • Experience in implementing new working methods regarding processes and routines

What the role entails

We are looking for a structured, driven, and analytical Financial Controller who wants to take a comprehensive approach to the finances within our development projects, IT management, and our IT department. The role is central to ensuring financial governance and transparency in an organization that is in constant change. The position is partially new and is a fixed-term employment with the possibility of extension.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for project and portfolio finance in development projects.
  • Ensure budgeting, forecasting, and follow-up for the IT management's finances.
  • Support and analyze the finances for the IT department.
  • Develop and improve financial processes and reporting structures.
  • Be a strategic support to project managers, IT managers, and management in financial matters.

Main tasks:

  • Advisor in financial matters to managers, project leaders
  • Ensure good accounting in accordance with internal and external regulations
  • Responsible for budget, follow-up, forecasting, and analysis of projects and operations
  • Contribute to the development of Chalmers' financial processes within the IT field.
