About the Authority

The Forum for Living History is an authority under the Ministry of Culture. Our mission is to promote democracy, human rights, and the equal value of all people. Through knowledge of history, we aim to contribute to reflection and learning about how the past and present are interconnected. Our starting point is the lessons learned from the Holocaust, the crimes against humanity committed by communist regimes, as well as other crimes against humanity in history.

Our work focuses on knowledge, education, and culture. We produce exhibitions, continuing education, reports, materials for schools, and hold seminars and discussions. Our activities are present throughout Sweden, digitally or on-site, often in collaboration with local, national, and international partners.

We have nearly 50 employees, and our office and public space are located in Gamla Stan in Stockholm. We offer an interesting job in a workplace with great commitment and both broad and deep knowledge of our areas. Wellness grants and wellness hours are a given, and if the work allows, there is also the possibility to allocate parts of the working hours remotely.

About the Position

In our mission to promote democracy, human rights, and the equal value of all people with lessons from history, communication is part of our core operations. We are now looking for a press secretary for the important role of supporting the authority's role as a knowledge-based voice in public discourse.

The role includes planning, coordinating, and implementing the authority's press and media work in collaboration with colleagues. You will work both strategically and operationally and act as a communicative support to the authority's management, spokespersons, and subject matter experts. You will develop and implement press activities in connection with, for example, report launches, surveys, memorial days, and exhibitions.

The work involves handling media inquiries, writing press releases and opinion articles, contacting journalists, preparing spokespersons, and monitoring and analyzing the media landscape in issues related to the authority's areas of operation. The position also includes editorial work to produce content for the authority's own channels, such as newsletters and social media.

The position is located in the communications department, in close collaboration with other communicators. The role also requires good cooperation with the chief director, department heads, subject experts, and project leaders.

At times, the work may involve time pressure and the need for flexibility. Press duty and social media duty on evenings and weekends are included, according to a rotating schedule.

The Candidate We Are Looking For

We are looking for a confident communicator with several years of experience in press work who meets the following criteria:

  • academic education in the field of communication or another area that the employer deems equivalent
  • current experience from similar roles/positions/tasks in a government agency, other politically governed activities, or similar
  • extensive experience in proactive and reactive press work, as well as work in social media
  • good understanding of the authority's mission and the conditions for communication work in a government agency
  • very good knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English

Desirable qualifications include:

  • experience in communication regarding issues related to the authority's core mission

The position is a fixed-term government employment, limited to 12 months, starting in February 2026 or by agreement.

The position is located in the Communications Department.
