The Department of Labor Market and Education has a broad mandate covering a large operational area, responsible from preschool all the way to adult education. We are also responsible for labor market support, integration, as well as growth and skills supply issues. The department is entitled to many different municipal grants that constitute a large and important part of our total budget. Within preschool and primary school, we have students from Luleå Municipality attending school in another municipality, as well as students from other municipalities attending school in one of our operations, which involves administration of intermunicipal compensation. Therefore, we are now looking for an economist who wants to work with us in the finance and HR department as part of the administrative support.

JOB DESCRIPTION

In the role of economist, you will be responsible for the administration of intermunicipal compensation, IKE, related to preschool and primary school. You will also requisition state grants from the Swedish National Agency for Education.

You will work both individually and together with colleagues in the Finance and HR department to develop working methods and provide support to the operations within the department. You will also have contact points that span both within and outside the department, as well as contact with external actors.

This position offers the possibility to work part of your time remotely.

This is the role for you if you are interested in economic work alongside experienced and knowledgeable colleagues, and want to provide high-level support to our operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• a high school diploma in economics or another relevant education for the position
• several years of experience in economic work
• good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form

It is an advantage if you have:

• experience in working with state grants

To succeed in this role, you need to be able to independently identify what needs to be done, take initiative, and be skilled at planning, structuring, and driving your work forward effectively. The work with intermunicipal compensation involves many contacts with other municipalities, especially within the county, and one of the keys to succeeding in the role will be that you are attentive and communicate clearly. Since state grants are requisitioned during different periods throughout the year and have clear cutoff dates, it is important that you are meticulous and can meet deadlines.
