Your Responsibilities

In adapted primary school, students with intellectual disabilities, often in combination with multiple disabilities (e.g., NPF, physical movement disabilities), attend. Our students study subjects and/or subject areas, and the education is tailored to each student's prerequisites. In these positions, you will teach subject areas that are alternatives to regular school subjects, which includes working towards more long-term goals. We strive for a clear and positive environment where we celebrate students' successes, big and small.

The position as a teacher in adapted primary school involves working with planning, teaching, evaluation, and values-based work based on the curriculum. The work is carried out both independently and in collaboration with colleagues.

As a teacher, you see the entire school day of the student as important, and therefore you collaborate with both guardians and colleagues regarding the student. You start from the student group you meet and are expected to create varied and challenging teaching. Using digital tools is a natural part of your teaching.

You promote collegial learning through discussion and reflection during both planned and spontaneous occasions. To benefit students' learning, as well as your own and the development of the organization, you utilize the experiences and knowledge of various professionals.

Your Workplace

Our adapted primary school for grades 7-9 is located at three units: Nya Rydsskolan, Ekholmsskolan, and Anders Ljungstedts gymnasium. Together, we form a large and dedicated workgroup of about 90 employees who daily support our 120 students. The position we are currently seeking involves work at one of these two units, Nya Rydsskolan and Ekholmsskolan. You have the same principal as the manager for both of your placements.

Ekholmsskolan and Nya Rydsskolan share the same strong commitment to ensuring that every student reaches their maximum learning in a safe school with adapted learning environments characterized by enthusiasm and engagement. Our work at both schools is based on the individual development of the student and the desire to learn. Through individualized teaching and a strong focus on student influence, we create participation and empower students in their learning and development. Our shared vision is to meet all students and allow all students to succeed. These serve as guiding principles when we plan teaching and contribute to creating a safe and knowledge-promoting learning environment where students' needs are at the center and where teaching rests on both structure and student focus.

As a teacher with us, you will receive continuous support from our student health team. We have all professions represented in our EHT, which is unique to our organization as they are placed solely with us. This means they work closely with both teachers and student groups and can offer direct and continuous support in your daily work. Furthermore, we actively work on school development and strive to systematically develop and improve our teaching to increase students' goal achievement. This academic year, we have a particular focus on developing test-based learning in our teaching. We have four common success factors that form the basis for our daily work and development work together with the students:

Who You Are

First and foremost, we are looking for someone with a preschool teacher certification or a teaching certification with authorization to teach in adapted primary school grades F-9. Secondly, we are looking for someone with a completed teacher education for grades F-9 or a diploma from a preschool teacher education program. Alternatively, you are at the end of your education to become a teacher or preschool teacher. It is advantageous if you have special education training or special teacher training with a specialization in intellectual disabilities. It is also advantageous if you have authorization in one or more of the following subjects: Swedish, SO, NO, mathematics, home economics, or music, but based on the needs of the organization, we are flexible with subject combinations. You have previous experience in pedagogical work with students in need of special support, preferably within adapted schools.

It is a requirement that you have good communicative skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is so that you, according to the curriculum (lgra22), can organize and carry out the work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development and is responsible for ensuring that every student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and allow them to participate in shaping the teaching. In a quality-conscious manner, you create good conditions for the student's development and learning, as well as documentation of the same. You are a good role model and create and maintain relationships in your professional role. You collaborate well with the contacts that occur in your professional role and have the student's best interests in focus.
