Systems Engineer in Railway Systems at AFRY

Do you want to help accelerate the transition to a more sustainable society? We are now looking for a systems engineer in railway systems at AFRY with the possibility of flexible stationing location. Apply today as we are working with ongoing selection.

ABOUT THE POSITION

AFRY is a leading European company with a global reach in engineering, design, and consulting. At AFRY, there are 19,000 dedicated experts in infrastructure, industry, energy, and digitalization, creating sustainable solutions for future generations.

AFRY's railway organization is national with offices from Örnsköldsvik to Malmö, and through close collaboration, they assist their clients in complex assignments ranging from the idea and concept phase to commissioning. The projects within the Railway Systems section include areas such as signaling systems, railway vehicles, and homologation/various types of third-party reviews. We are now looking for a systems engineer who is ready to take on an exciting everyday life in the railway industry. The tasks are varied and involve requirements specification, implementation, verification, and validation, as well as delivery and testing in the facilities or vehicles. In this role, you will work with everything from quotation work, requirements specification, project planning, and follow-up to report writing, client meetings, and supplier discussions. This role can advantageously be combined with the role of an administrator within AFRY's review operations, where you perform third-party reviews within the subsystems of signaling, rolling stock, energy, and safety integration. It is a significant advantage if you have previously worked project-based where you have had your own responsibility for organizing your work, as the role requires you to be largely self-driven.

You are offered

We offer you an opportunity to grow in a senior specialist group with developing assignments. You will have flexible working opportunities with the chance to choose your stationing location and the opportunity to work with safety-critical systems that affect the future of train traffic.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities

The role involves acting as a technical expert in railway systems, focusing on ensuring that railway vehicles and signaling systems meet high safety and functionality requirements.

  • Develop technical specifications for railway vehicles and signaling systems.
  • Review and analyze technical documentation to ensure compliance with Swedish standards.
  • Participate in procurement processes for railway vehicles and systems.
  • Lead and coordinate tests of new systems on vehicles.
  • Provide advice regarding the maintenance of signaling systems.
  • Conduct independent reviews (ASBO/DEBO) of safety-critical systems.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU WHO

  • Has knowledge of railway systems and/or signaling systems (ERTMS).
  • Has a university degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Is fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as the tasks require communication in both languages.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience from the rolling stock or infrastructure sector within railways.
  • Experience in project management within technical projects.
  • Experience in independent review (ASBO/DEBO).
  • Understanding of safety aspects within railway systems.

In this recruitment process, great importance is placed on your personal qualities. To succeed in this role, you are driven and enjoy taking significant personal responsibility. Additionally, you are collaborative and thrive in a consulting expert role.

Our recruitment process

This recruitment process is managed by Academic Work, and our client's request is that all questions regarding the position are sent to Academic Work.

We apply ongoing selection and will remove the advertisement when enough candidates have reached the final stage of the recruitment process. When applying, a CV is requested. A cover letter is not used as a selection method and therefore does not need to be attached. The recruitment process includes two selection tests: a personality test and a cognitive ability test. The tests are a tool to find the candidate with the highest potential for the position and to promote equality, diversity, and a fair recruitment process.
