About the Organization

Within Sahlgrenska University Hospital, there are three sterile technical units: Mölndal, Sahlgrenska, and Östra. Our mission is to supply operating departments and outpatient clinics at Östra Hospital with sterile instruments and pre-sterilized materials. We also provide services to external customers. Our operations are strongly governed by laws and regulations as well as national and international standards. The work with instrument handling involves preventing the spread of infection and preventing healthcare-associated infections, thereby achieving a good hygienic standard and patient safety. We work with continuous improvements regarding both the sterile technical process and our relationship with customers. We do not work directly with patients but focus on the patient and patient safety.

Job Responsibilities

As an employee with us, you will handle and ensure the quality of instruments throughout the sterile technical process. Cleaning, disinfection, inspection, and maintenance of instruments, as well as sterilization and inventory management, are part of the daily work. The work is varied, can be physically demanding, and has periods of high work pace. You will work somewhat independently while having the support of your colleagues. Collaboration and community are important to us. We have close cooperation with our customers and other sterile technical units within Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Working hours are scheduled during daytime and evening hours as well as weekends.

About You

We welcome you who are a trained sterile technician (YH 300p) alternatively a trained nursing assistant with experience in surgery and instrument handling, or you who have other equivalent education/experience that the employer deems relevant. You must have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. You should have computer skills and an interest in technology as the development of medical technology equipment and surgical instruments is constantly ongoing. We work daily in the traceability and production system T-DOC.

You are meticulous, organized, and flexible. It is natural for you to work independently and prioritize your tasks according to the needs of the organization. You are solution-oriented when problems arise. You have good collaboration skills and care about a good work climate.

We place great emphasis on quality and patient safety, and it is therefore advantageous if you have previously worked in sterile operations with instrument handling or in clean rooms with high hygiene standards. Since we are keen to find the right person for the position, we place great importance on personal suitability.
