About the Board

The Security and Privacy Protection Board is a governmental authority responsible for supervising the Police Authority's and Security Police's processing of personal data in crime prevention activities, as well as the use of secret coercive measures and qualified protection identities by crime-fighting authorities. The Board also supervises the application of the prohibition against using information in intelligence from the Defence Radio Establishment for criminal investigations. Delegations within the authority handle matters such as permits for qualified protection identities and matters related to background checks.

Main Responsibilities

The operational activities at the secretariat are divided into two units, one primarily focused on personal data processing and one primarily focused on secret coercive measures. You will be placed in the unit that handles the operational supervision of the Security Police's and Police Authority's processing of personal data in crime prevention activities but may also work on issues related to the entire authority's area of operations. Supervision is conducted through on-site inspections at the reviewed authorities, through system checks, and through written and oral inquiries.

The tasks mainly consist of processing and presenting cases that arise in the authority's operations, as well as conducting legal investigations. You will also prepare and present referral statements.

Since its establishment in 2008, the Board has gradually expanded its supervisory area and gained new interesting supervisory tasks. Ongoing investigative and legislative work will continue to impact operations in the future. Therefore, you will be part of, and contribute to, developing new working methods and approaches for the review process. Some international work may also be included in the tasks.

About You

We are looking for someone with a law degree (jur.kand.) or equivalent and at least four years of relevant experience in qualified legal work. You have experience in legal work within the public sector.

It is an advantage if you have:

· experience in supervisory activities

· experience in legal work at crime-fighting authorities, the Government Offices, or in court

· experience in legal work within the data protection area

· experience in legal work within the AI field

You are a responsible, proactive, and meticulous person who is used to working independently and in a structured manner. You are analytical and have very good judgment. Additionally, you must have good written and oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others. To thrive in the job, you should have an interest in privacy protection issues. Great emphasis is placed on your personal qualities.

The operations impose high demands on security and confidentiality, therefore, you are expected to have a high security awareness.

About the Employment

Employment type: Permanent. The authority applies a six-month probationary period.

Start date: By agreement

As the position is classified in a security class, Swedish citizenship is required. A successful security clearance with background check is a prerequisite for employment.
