Project Assistant for ESF Project #SeeMe

At Rinmangymnasiet, we are launching the ESF project #SeeMe. The project aims to support students with high absenteeism and those who are staying at home, helping them return to school. The project will run for three years starting from September 25, 2015, with the possibility of extension.

School absenteeism is increasing, and we want to motivate students to participate in education and complete their high school studies. To achieve this, we are developing new methods and approaches to assist students facing difficulties in school.

Rinmangymnasiet already has an action plan for students with high absenteeism. Now we want to further strengthen our competence, supported by experiences from the Plug In 2.0 project. We aim to create a methodological support that helps students participate in schoolwork in a safe and inclusive manner.

The school should be a safe place for all students. Regardless of whether you achieve good academic results, have an NPF diagnosis, mental health issues, or live in a family with social or economic challenges, you should feel secure here. You will be met by present adults who can provide the support you need.

Project Goals:

  • Map students and provide support measures so that the school can offer the right help for each student
  • Motivate students to participate in education, increase school attendance, and help them graduate, in collaboration with the school staff.
  • Increase staff knowledge about the causes of absenteeism and methods to improve school attendance.
  • Strengthen students' mental health.
  • Inform students about how the student health team can support them towards graduation.
  • Develop and implement a work model for increased school attendance and routines for information transfer between middle school and high school.
  • Strengthen the school's work on equality, safety, and follow-up, so that no student falls through the cracks.

Student absenteeism can affect both schoolwork and life outside of school. It can prevent one from reaching their full potential or lead to financial limitations. In some cases, it can lead to more serious problems, such as health issues or risk of criminality.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for a project assistant. Your responsibilities include:

  • Participate in outreach activities aimed at students in vulnerable life situations.
  • Promote a positive and solution-focused view of students, focusing on each individual's possibilities.
  • Work directly with students, both individually and in groups.
  • Support the school organization in the reintegration of students with high absenteeism.
  • Work closely with students' families to create holistic solutions.
  • Collaborate with the school's student health team, mentors, teachers, and principal.
  • Cooperate with social services, police, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to planning, implementation, and evaluation of the project's activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

You need to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish. A minimum of high school education is required. If you have further education relevant to the assignment, it is an advantage.

You should be comfortable with planning, follow-up, and documentation. Experience working with youth in vulnerable situations and at risk of criminality is also an advantage.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience working with youth in vulnerable situations, with psychosocial issues and/or NPF.
  • Experience from projects in schools, social services, or similar organizations.
  • Familiarity with close collaboration with school staff and other stakeholders, such as police or social services.
  • Knowledge of working with students who stay at home and youth with difficulties affecting school attendance.
  • Experience with low-arousal approaches.
  • Experience from treatment homes or roles such as police, youth leaders, social workers, teachers, special educators, or similar.
  • A driver's license.

You are unpretentious, adaptable, and can create clear structures. You distinguish between the issue and the person and remain professional even in challenging behaviors.
