Now is your chance, we are looking for a counselor for a temporary position at our youth center in Västerås.

Job Responsibilities

As a counselor with us, your main tasks will involve independently providing advisory and supportive conversations in individual meetings with young people, both in the form of scheduled visits and drop-ins. Part of our mission involves outreach work at schools and youth centers.

Our partners include schools, social services, and other healthcare providers. Another important part of our work is to stay updated on the needs of young people and the various arenas they are in.

The youth center in Västerås consists of counselors, midwives, nursing assistants, and doctors. You will be part of the staff group for the county's youth centers, which means you will have meetings, training, development work, and supervision together with other colleagues at the county's youth centers, as well as supporting each other in the work at the different centers as needed.

About the Workplace

At the youth centers, young people aged 13-23 are offered a service with multiprofessional competence; medical and psychosocial, allowing them to receive advice and support on various issues and problems that arise during the transition from childhood to adulthood. The service focuses on preventive measures and the ability to detect health risks early, both on an individual level and more generally, particularly in the areas of:

• Sexuality and relationships
• Psychological and psychosocial issues
• Cultural-related issues
• Lifestyle issues
• General medical issues such as physical development and health concerns related to the aforementioned areas.

Qualifications

You who are applying have a degree in social work. Step 1 training and previous experience working with youth is an advantage for the position.

As a person, you are open, attentive, and value good collaboration. The work requires employees with commitment and great respect and interest in young people's living conditions. We place great emphasis on flexibility and the ability and willingness to collaborate across professional boundaries. You have the ability to convey security and to see and meet each young person based on their level of maturity and needs, and you have a strong interest in youth and preventive work.

Employment Conditions

1 Temporary position. Start in May, or by agreement, until the end of the year with a possible extension.

Full-time or employment rate can be discussed. Daytime, weekdays, and occasional evening shifts may occur.
