The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Sundbo, located outside Fagersta, receives non-school-age boys with psychosocial issues, as well as criminality and substance abuse. We are tasked with providing care for young people with special care needs and accept boys who have been sentenced to closed youth care (LSU).

Job Description

Do you want to help create life-changing transformations for vulnerable individuals? Then the job as a treatment assistant/treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge.

As a treatment assistant/treatment pedagogue, you work in a team and together with treatment coordinators, you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the security, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you will work with qualified care and motivational work, providing support in everyday life. With the support of your and your colleagues' knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work, contributing to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining safety according to our routines and participate in ensuring that daily life runs smoothly with schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. Being a contact person is also one of your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns.

Working hours are according to a schedule, including day, evening, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS's basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS's operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of people. You are motivated to help individuals in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are self-assured and easily build relationships with young people as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

As a treatment assistant, you should have:

  • Completed secondary education
  • Experience working with individuals in vulnerable life situations, e.g., in psychiatry, HVB operations, or care and support.
  • Class B driver's license
  • Good Swedish in spoken and written form

For employment as a treatment pedagogue, the following is also required:

  • Degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or education from a university that we assess as equivalent

Meritorious:

  • Knowledge and experience of NPF diagnoses

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
