Investigator with Legal Background for the Register Unit

Do you want to make a difference and contribute to safer healthcare and social services? The Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO) is now seeking investigators with a legal background for the Register Unit to develop the conditions for state supervision and licensing assessment. We believe this is a job for you if you are a lawyer, interested in combating welfare crime, and have a strong ability to investigate legal issues.

About the Job

As an investigator at the Register Unit, you will be responsible for cases where the authority's decisions have been appealed to the courts. You will prepare documentation, opinions, and assessments in the legal process. The role also includes handling orders with fines directed at businesses that have not fulfilled their reporting obligations to IVO's register, including review, assessment, and follow-up to ensure compliance with requirements.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Investigating legal issues and providing guidance within the unit's area of responsibility
  • Providing legal support to the unit manager and other investigators in the unit
  • Participating in the authority's work against unscrupulous and criminal actors
  • Driving projects and development work related to register issues at an inter-agency level

The positions are permanent employment with a six-month probationary period, located in Stockholm.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a law degree (or Jur. kand.)
  • relevant work experience in litigation within a government agency
  • in-depth knowledge and current experience of orders associated with fines
  • good and current IT and computer skills
  • very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written

We consider it advantageous if you also have:

  • very good knowledge of the legislation governing IVO's register
  • experience in confidentiality assessments when disclosing public documents
  • experience in providing ongoing advice and acting consultatively to management and others within the organization as a legal expert

Workplace Description

IVO's analysis department conducts extensive and exciting work to develop a more risk-based and data-driven supervision and plays a strategically important role for the authority. The department is part of the core operations where cooperation with supervision and licensing assessment is an important part of the work. Currently, over 70 employees work in the department across four units with assignments in analysis, statistics, registers, and information services. The goal is to contribute to precise and uniform supervision and share our knowledge within IVO and with external recipients.

The Register Unit manages the ongoing administration and development of the authority's supervision register with the goal of maintaining good data quality and high coverage. The unit is undergoing exciting development work with a strong focus on combating unscrupulous and criminal actors. This entails an increased need for legal knowledge focused on sanctions and litigation, among other things. Therefore, you should thrive and want to operate in a changing environment.

The unit is also part of the authority's extensive work to combat criminal and unscrupulous actors.

IVO contributes to safe healthcare and social services. The mission of the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO) is to contribute to healthcare and social services that are safe, of good quality, and conducted in accordance with laws and other regulations through supervision and licensing assessment.

The authority is characterized by a strong commitment and a broad and deep knowledge and understanding of healthcare and social services in Sweden. We exist for the benefit of healthcare and social service recipients.

The authority has approximately 800 employees. The supervision work is conducted at six regional departments across the country. The departments for licensing assessment, analysis, planning, communication, and operational support are located in Stockholm, as is the director general's office.
