The adult psychiatry area in Malmö/Trelleborg is divided into four areas, focusing on adult psychiatric inpatient care, adult psychiatric outpatient care, addiction, and psychosis. Within the area, we have over 850 employees working together to provide good care to our patients. The adult psychiatric inpatient area consists of three inpatient wards and a transitional care unit. Additionally, there is a large emergency reception, a psychiatric intensive care unit, an ECT unit, as well as administration and resource teams. Approximately 230 employees work within the area.

Our psychiatric emergency reception is the third largest in Sweden and a dynamic workplace that values operational and professional development.

We have 25 nurses, a unit manager, team leaders, 2 nursing assistants, a care coordinator, 2 specialist doctors, as well as ST and AT doctors working with us. Some of our specially trained staff are also part of the PAP unit. In the ambulance, our staff and paramedics meet patients with acute psychiatric care needs. During weekdays, some of our specially trained nurses and specialist doctors work together with psychiatric consultations towards somatic care.

Our staff group is experienced, well-functioning, and has low turnover. The work environment is characterized by good cohesion and well-being. We also actively work to promote a good work environment and continuously develop our working methods.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now welcoming two specialist doctors to our team!

As a specialist doctor in the psychiatric emergency reception, you will be involved in a unit that focuses on patient safety and development. Your main tasks include assessment, investigation, and treatment of patients. As a specialist/senior doctor, you play an important role in introducing and mentoring nursing staff, junior doctors, as well as ST and AT doctors. Additionally, you support the triaging nurses in their care level assessments and keep yourself updated on patient flows. If necessary, you will make independent assessments of patients. In the reception, we work in a team-based and interdisciplinary manner. You will work consultatively towards somatic care and assess inpatients and plan for continued care based on referrals or phone consultations.

As the medically responsible doctor in the psychiatric emergency reception, it is your responsibility to stay updated on current guidelines and be responsible for the treatment options the unit performs. You will become part of a competent team of specialists who together are responsible for staffing the on-call line in the emergency reception.

Together with the unit manager and team leaders, continuing education for the staff group is planned and arranged. You will also be involved in development and improvement work within the unit alongside the unit manager and team leaders.

This position is covered by Region Skåne's recruitment bonus.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed doctor with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Additionally, you have specialist competence in psychiatry. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale is a requirement. You should have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision.

For employment as a senior doctor, you should also have:

• full-time service of at least three years (documented effective time)
• clinical skill and independence in psychiatry
• defined medical responsibility and knowledge area
• documented teaching and mentoring merits.

At a university hospital unit, it is required that doctors have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through mentoring nursing and medical students as well as doctors in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application any completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in mentoring, and teaching at various levels.

We have a broad mission where many different competencies together provide our patients with the best care and support. With curiosity and great interest, we also invest in development and research.

The mission within psychiatry is to provide specialized care in publicly operated child, adult, and forensic psychiatry. Habilitation provides habilitation and rehabilitation within publicly operated child, youth, and adult habilitation. Assistive devices are tasked with managing assistive devices prescribed to patients in Skåne. Within the administration, there are also vision, hearing, and deaf services and youth clinics in Skåne.
