We are now looking for a Chief Physician with a mission within Region Östergötland. The Chief Physician unit has an overarching mission to follow up the healthcare provider's responsibility for patient safety in Region Östergötland. Our goal is to support the organization in ensuring safe and secure care, minimizing risks, and limiting the number of healthcare injuries.

Our team consists of chief physicians, chief nurses, and an administrator. In total, we are ten employees in the unit.

We are looking for someone who has an interest and commitment to patient safety, medical quality, and development. As Chief Physician, you will play a key role in driving improvements together with chief nurses, managers, and employees, and creating conditions for safe, equitable, and knowledge-based care.

Job Description

In your role as Chief Physician, you will provide support to management on issues related to patient safety. You will monitor and represent Region Östergötland's patient safety work in various regional, healthcare regional, and national projects, forums, and working groups.

Your main responsibilities are:

• Decide on and be responsible for reporting incidents that have led to or could lead to serious healthcare injuries (for example, Lex Maria).
• Identify patient safety risks, suggest measures, and follow up for management functions within the region.
• Conduct patient safety dialogues with operations.
• Identify and monitor risk areas within the region's healthcare.
• Assist operations in their internal investigations and analysis.
• Conduct training initiatives in the area of patient safety for employees and managers.
• Propose preventive measures for increased patient safety.

About You

You are a senior physician authorized to practice in Swedish healthcare. You have good knowledge of Swedish and English. Experience in research, development work, or previous work with patient safety is meritorious, as well as management or leadership experience.

We are looking for someone with a strategic and quality-oriented approach, who is confident in complex decision-making situations and has a trustworthy and good communicative ability.

The position is a permanent employment at 100%, and you are expected to work throughout the region. The place of employment can be discussed. Start date as soon as possible by agreement.
