The Mission of the Social Administration

The mission of the Social Administration is to work with social services and provide support so that everyone in the municipality feels safe and has the same opportunities in life. We want everyone to be able to be active and involved in society. With a focus on respect for the individual's right to decide over their own life, we are responsible for three important areas: care and support, assistance for people with disabilities, and help for individuals and families. Our goal is for everyone to receive the support and care they need.

The Workplace

Within Individual and Family Services, there is the Preventive Children and Youth Unit. The unit's mission targets children/youth aged 0-20 years and their families. The unit provides parenting support, outreach activities, group activities, and social counseling. The unit collaborates with other departments within the municipality as well as other organizations such as the police, healthcare, and community associations.

The Preventive Children and Youth Unit is one of 5 units within Individual and Family Services. The unit has been in existence for three years and is still under development.

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking two project-employed social counselors for an ESF project (European Social Fund) to work with school social teams in close collaboration with the education administration.

The two social counselors will work in an ESF project for 2.5 years, together with the student health teams of secondary schools and with project-employed staff from the education administration. In collaboration, new structures and working methods will be established to jointly prevent absenteeism among students. Social counseling primarily for parents and sometimes for the child will be the social counselor's responsibilities, but other tasks within the Preventive Children and Youth Unit may also occur.

You are expected to be able to work on weekday evenings, approximately once a week, and every fourth week you are also expected to be available for an additional weekday evening, to be present when the assignment requires it and when citizens need support. Trust-based working hours apply.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a social worker or has another post-secondary education that the employer deems relevant for the assignment. It is advantageous if you have experience working with families with social issues, have experience in social work aimed at youth aged 12-18 years, and experience with the role of social services in school social teams.

Competence in Motivational Interviewing and working models for preventive measures such as group parenting support, e.g., ABC Teen, is also advantageous.

You have an easy time building relationships with those you meet in your work and are used to working independently, but also in collaboration with others. You are secure and stable and have good knowledge of the mission of social services. You can easily navigate the social system and the various authorities' missions. You are required to be flexible and take on new challenges and tasks. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

A valid driver's license is required.
