PhD Position in Computer Science at Örebro University

Örebro University and the School of Science and Technology are offering a doctoral student position in Computer Science. The position is expected to conclude with a doctoral degree.

The doctoral student will be affiliated with the Machine Perception and Interaction Lab at Örebro University, which carries out multi-disciplinary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning, and human-robot interaction.

Project Description

The focus of the project is artificial intelligence (AI) and specifically the use of large language models in health-related domains.

The successful candidate will contribute to developing new AI methods for processing unstructured medical text and register-based health data, with the aim of improving prediction, prevention, and individualized treatment in youth mental health. The project is part of an interdisciplinary research environment involving Örebro University, Karolinska Institutet, and Region Skåne, integrating expertise in AI, epidemiology, and psychiatry. The Ph.D. student will work with cutting-edge techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and causal machine learning, advancing the use of LLMs in healthcare under strong data privacy and ethical standards.
