About the position

We are now looking for an engaged teacher for teaching grades 7-9 in the subjects of mathematics, physical education, and history. You will be part of a team that actively works to develop both students and colleagues through participation in conferences and professional development. The school has six teams and a student health service led by a student health manager. The teams work closely with their students and are responsible for resources, facilities, and scheduling. Each team has a high staff density with a teaching assistant and a student coordinator assigned to support the educators in their work.

Examples of tasks:

  • plan, implement, and evaluate teaching in the subjects you are responsible for
  • use methods and approaches that lead to the best possible goal fulfillment
  • exercise mentorship/perform class teacher duties
  • work together with the team and other staff at the school
  • work and document in the operational systems available

About the workplace

Gumaeliusskolan is a secondary school located centrally in the west. Currently, we have 720 students and offer profiles in football, ice hockey, dance, riding, gymnastics, training and health, floorball, and special sports. At Gumaeliusskolan, we have chosen to increase the number of adults around the students by having more teachers and more adults with competencies, such as student coordinators, special educators, and social workers.

Qualifications

As a teacher, it is important that you have good collaboration skills where you listen and communicate and contribute to a calm and safe school environment. You should also have knowledge of children's development and learning, as well as the ability to adapt teaching based on the group's and individual students' needs and conditions. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • teaching certification with qualifications to teach mathematics, physical education, and history for grades 7-9, or alternatively a qualifying degree that entitles you to a teaching certification

Desirable:

  • experience of teaching at the secondary level
