Mobile School Nurse

Are you an experienced school nurse who enjoys flexibility in your work? Here is an opportunity for you to develop in your role and see many different operations. We are introducing a new role as a mobile school nurse. The purpose is to cover vacancies and absences in primary and secondary schools in the municipality.

You will belong to the medical student health service, where you will also have your workplace when you are not working at specific schools. We are centrally located in Eskilstuna, and with us work a operations manager, coordinating school nurse, and four school doctors. We introduce and train all newly hired school nurses, organize joint competence development and group supervision, and hold network meetings with opportunities for contact and knowledge exchange.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

When you work at a school, your focus will be on health visits according to the basic program, vaccinations, and follow-ups of students. You will meet students of all ages, from preschool to high school. At the schools, there are student health teams with different professions that you will collaborate with. You will also have a fair amount of contact with guardians. Administrative tasks are also included. The length of assignments varies. Before each assignment, we create a prioritization order with the most important areas to focus on.

During breaks or when you do not have an assignment at a school, you will work at the medical student health service. In this role, there is an opportunity to have your own area of responsibility and work with quality and improvement work in consultation with the operations manager. The area of responsibility is distributed based on competence and interest; it may involve, for example, needle-phobic children, onboarding, mentorship, obesity, or education. You will also assist with vaccination tasks, where you support school nurses at various schools. Working and possibly training in our journal system Prorenata may also be part of your duties. The role can develop based on needs and areas of competence for the person who gets the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in this role, you need to have knowledge of a school nurse's duties; therefore, we want you to have at least two years of experience. If you have worked with children and adolescents of various ages in school activities, that is a plus. You are a licensed nurse and have further education in school health care, health care for children/adolescents, or district nursing. It facilitates your work if you have a driver's license and a car, as your workplace varies.

We are looking for someone with an understanding of students' differences and the ability to meet them based on their situation and personality. You can independently take responsibility for your planning and areas of responsibility. You take your own initiatives and drive development issues independently but also together with others. We also value that you collaborate well with other functions to offer students the best possible support.
