Special Education Teacher at Svealundsskolan

About the Position

We are looking for a special education teacher for Svealundsskolan focusing on our adapted primary school. In our adapted primary school, we have students who study both subject orientation and subject area orientation. In this role, you will be responsible for guiding staff, developing teaching in line with the curriculum goals, and creating conditions for learning and development. You will guide the school's staff on special educational issues and conduct assessments at the individual, group, and organizational levels. As a special education teacher, you are an important resource in the work of monitoring, evaluating, and developing our routines and structures, and you will be responsible for educational follow-ups in grades 3 and 5.

Examples of Responsibilities:

  • be part of the school's student health team where you participate in joint meetings and collaborate around students
  • document according to guidelines in existing documentation systems
  • collaborate with external actors
  • work with the school's principals on development issues and student health work
  • together with mentors, be responsible for meetings with guardians

About the Workplace

At Svealundsskolan, over 500 students attend from preschool class to grade 6 and adapted primary school grades 1–6. You will find us in newly built premises at Eklundaparken where the former Eklundaskolan was located. The school is designed to create good conditions for learning with both innovative and proven experiences. The school has varied learning environments and classic classrooms that create security. The adapted primary school has its own home bases next to the primary school to create proximity, integration, and opportunities for collaboration.

Qualifications

As a person, you are secure and engaged in your role. You are a communicative person who listens well and adapts your way of communicating based on the recipient, you easily create contact and instill trust while remaining calm in stressful situations. You have good collaboration skills and relate to others in a responsive and smooth manner. Furthermore, you are good at structuring, prioritizing, and taking overall responsibility for your work. Additionally, you master the Swedish language in a way that allows you to communicate with students, relatives, and other staff, as well as document what the operations require in writing. Since the work involves digital documentation, good computer skills are also required.

Requirements:

  • teacher certification with authorization to teach in primary school, or alternatively a qualifying degree that entitles you to teacher certification
  • special education degree 90 credits
  • experience working in an adapted primary school

Desirable:

  • experience working with AAC
  • experience with ICDP
  • experience guiding staff

Scope and Start Date

Employment type: permanent position

Employment rate: 60%

Start date: by agreement

Teacher certification with specified authorization must be attached to the application, or alternatively a qualifying degree certificate that entitles to certification.
