University Lecturer in Nursing Science

We are looking for a university lecturer in nursing science for a one-year temporary position at the School of Health Sciences, Örebro University.

Subject Area

The subject area for the position is nursing science.

Background

At the School of Health Sciences (HV), education at undergraduate and advanced levels is offered, along with research focused on people's health and learning. The nursing program and six specialist nursing programs are provided by the nursing unit. Research with various focuses is conducted within health and care sciences. We are now seeking a university lecturer, who is a licensed nurse and preferably has a doctoral degree, for a one-year temporary position. This is part of a long-term initiative to ensure the supply of competence in teaching and research to meet future needs.

Starting in the autumn of 2025, the implementation of a new nursing program will begin at the unit. The new program has an increased focus on clinical and academic competence and enhanced collaboration with healthcare providers in the region and municipalities.

Job Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the university lecturer include teaching in the nursing program, but teaching at an advanced level in the specialist nursing programs may also occur. The teaching includes course development, planning, examinations, supervision, and evaluation. The responsibilities also include development work, administration, competence development, and following the knowledge development in the relevant subject area. For a doctoral university lecturer, research may also be included.

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a university lecturer, one must have demonstrated pedagogical skills and obtained a degree at least at the master's level (or equivalent) in a relevant field. For this position, a doctoral degree in a relevant field is meritorious.

Assessment Criteria

At Örebro University, learning is based on science and proven experience and is derived from university pedagogical and didactic research and reflection. When hiring teachers, both scientific and pedagogical skills are assessed, and these should be given equal consideration. The assessment will also value merits from collaboration with the community of which the university is a part, as well as national and international experience and mobility. Teachers should have the ability to inform, collaborate with the surrounding community, and work towards the utilization of the university's research. Additionally, the suitability of the applicant is assessed. Suitability refers to the applicant demonstrating the personal qualities required to fulfill the current job responsibilities, the ability to collaborate with other staff, and the ability to contribute to the development of the organization.

Pedagogical Skills

At Örebro University, pedagogical skills are summarized in the categories of pedagogical approach, realization of the pedagogical approach, and professional development as a teacher. The pedagogical skills for a university lecturer must be demonstrated through previous merits from teaching or similar learning situations. As an applicant, you should also be able to explain how a scientific approach is applied in teaching.

Particular emphasis is placed on the ability and experience of teaching and examination within nursing education. Documented teaching experience in relevant healthcare contexts and nursing science is particularly meritorious. Documented experience and interest in scientific methods and method teaching are also meritorious.

Other Assessment Criteria

A license as a nurse and documented clinical experience are required, while a doctoral degree is meritorious. The job responsibilities require computer skills, the ability to organize, and the ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, in Swedish and English.

Great importance is also placed on personal qualities such as teamwork ability, responsibility, loyalty, and initiative. We are looking for a team player who is loyal to work tasks and colleagues and who does not hesitate to take responsibility and initiative that develops the organization.

Information

The position is a 100% temporary position for one year, starting on 2026-02-01 or by agreement. Örebro University applies individual salary setting.
