Young in Nykvarn is the municipality's collective name for activities and events aimed at children and youth. We are present where children and youth are: at the library, culture school, and all other places where young people need activities and safe adults. Our goal is simple, all children and youth should feel that there are places just for them.

The Culture School in Nykvarn is a central and important part of Young in Nykvarn. We offer a creative and developing platform where young people can explore their interests in music, dance, theater, and other artistic expressions, while also having the opportunity to grow as individuals.

As part of Young in Nykvarn, the Culture School is more than just a place for teaching - we are a safe and inspiring meeting place where children and youth get the chance to create, develop, and be part of a positive social community. Together with other actors in the municipality, such as the library and open activities, we contribute to creating safe places for young people to both have fun and grow in their creative expressions.

Piano and keyboard teacher for Nykvarn's culture school

The Culture School in Nykvarn is looking for a piano teacher for teaching piano and keyboard to students aged 6-19 years. You will work with both beginners and more advanced students and adapt the teaching to their individual needs and circumstances. An important part of the teaching is to create a learning environment where students feel involved, have the opportunity to influence their own development, and are given the chance to work together on projects and collaborations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Teach piano and keyboard, both individually and in groups.
• Adapt teaching according to students' levels and needs, including elements of reading music, ear training, and improvisation.
• Create an inspiring and creative learning environment where students can explore different music genres and forms of expression.
• Support students' musical development by giving them influence over their own learning process and encouraging their own creation and improvisation.
• Actively encourage collaboration between students through group teaching, ensembles, and joint projects, where they have the opportunity to learn from each other and work together towards common goals.
• Lead projects such as songwriting, ensemble performances, or musical theater, where students' creative ideas and collaborations are at the center.
• Participate in the Culture School's joint activities, such as holiday activities, concerts, and events, where students are given the opportunity to be involved in planning and performances.

Nykvarn Municipality is a Finnish administrative area, and we consider it an asset if you speak Finnish.

There will be opportunities to influence the employment rate of the position.

We require you to present a criminal record extract before employment.

The position is a vacation position.

We expect that you have a relevant pedagogical university education or other education/experience that the employer deems appropriate. You have experience in piano teaching both individually and in groups, as well as very good skills in piano playing, with a good breadth regarding genres and playing techniques. In your role, you need to have good ability and methodology to harness and develop students' potential and enthusiasm based on each individual's personal circumstances. You enjoy working with both breadth and depth. You are willing to bring new ideas and are responsible, structured, and care about maintaining a high professional level. We would also like you to have worked in StudyAlong.

It is an advantage if you have a broader and more versatile competence within the culture school and teach in several subjects.
