Department of Subject Didactics at Stockholm University
The Department of Subject Didactics is part of the Faculty of Humanities at Stockholm University.
We primarily conduct teacher education and research within various school subjects. The department has a particular responsibility for the Primary Teacher Education Program aimed at preschool class to grade 6, the Subject Teacher Education Program, and supplementary pedagogical education. In addition, the Department of Subject Didactics also offers master's and master's programs as well as external assignments from municipalities and other authorities.

Subject didactics with a focus on history
Job Responsibilities
The job responsibilities include teaching subject didactics with a focus on history within teacher education programs, supervising independent projects, as well as teaching and conducting tri-party discussions within the practical training component (VFU) of the teacher education program. The job responsibilities also include performing administrative tasks related to current courses.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligible for the position is someone who has a teaching degree and experience in teaching in primary and/or secondary school and who has obtained a doctoral degree in subject didactics with a focus on history, pedagogical work, or equivalent, and has demonstrated pedagogical proficiency in teaching within this area. Scientific proficiency should be demonstrated through research publications, presentations at conferences, and networking and research collaboration.
Pedagogical proficiency should be demonstrated through documented experience in teaching and course development across a wide range of courses at both undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as through supervision of thesis work. Proficiency should be documented in a way that allows for the assessment of quality in both scientific and pedagogical activities.
The applicant should have good collaborative skills and the ability and suitability necessary to perform the job responsibilities well. As the course offerings are currently exclusively in Swedish, we expect you to have very good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
Assessment Criteria
Knowledge and experience in history didactics through teaching in primary or secondary school. Doctoral education or experience in conducting research in history didactics is considered particularly meritorious. Personal experience in supervising teacher students is meritorious, as well as experiences in teaching within teacher education, including practical training. Great emphasis is also placed on the applicant's ability to structure and organize engaging teaching that stimulates students to independent learning.
The university will primarily consider candidates who, after a comprehensive assessment of competencies, merits, skills, and personal abilities, have the best conditions to carry out the current job responsibilities and contribute to a positive development of the activities.
The applicant should be able to provide references from previous teaching assignments upon request.
About the Position
The position encompasses at least 35% of a full-time position. Furthermore, it is temporary and intended for part-time work for 6 months. Start date is 2026-01-19.
