University Lecturer in Machine Learning

The Machine Learning group, led by Professor Marcus Liwicki, has opened a position in the field of machine learning with a focus on applied artificial intelligence (AI) and brain analysis. The group is expanding with new teaching and is now offering a position as a university lecturer.

Subject Description

Machine learning focuses on computational methods through which computer systems use data to improve their own performance, understanding, and to make accurate predictions, and has a close connection to applications.

Project Description

You will be part of a team teaching machine learning. Your goal will be to develop, improve, and update course materials using flexible micro-modules in AI education that the machine learning group has developed. Assist in teaching (e.g., Brain Analysis focusing on machine learning, Neural Networks and Learning Machines, Introduction to AI). You will collaborate in writing research proposals and scientific articles.

Responsibilities

Employment in projects focusing on applied AI, particularly deep learning in the field of pattern recognition (e.g., computer vision, physiological signals, brain imaging data, supervised and unsupervised learning). Assist in teaching, help curate and collect brain imaging data. Publish material on social media, improve video materials, assist with labs and assignments in AI-related courses (e.g., Brain Analysis focusing on machine learning, Neural Networks and Learning Machines, Introduction to AI).

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required for the university lecturer position. To be eligible, you must have a master's degree in biomedical engineering. It is an advantage if you have been a teaching assistant in higher education, have experience in MRI data collection, and have supervised labs in higher education. Previous experience in writing research proposals is also welcomed. Knowledge of MATLAB, Python, and the programming language C is required.
