Subject Description
Language and Literature with a didactic focus emphasizes research in relation to language and literature in schools, subject didactics, and the content of teacher education. The research includes cultural, literary, and linguistic perspectives. The research is primarily practice-oriented, mainly involving the school subjects Swedish and English, and is characterized by collaboration with practitioners in school practice.
Project Description
In this PhD project, we focus on students' continued reading and writing development – that is, how they deepen and broaden their skills after the basic learning has been established.
Central starting points are to strengthen students' strategies for reading comprehension, develop their genre knowledge and ability for critical text work, and create rich opportunities for them to express themselves through various text types and media. The project aims to deepen knowledge about how teaching can support this development and provide students with tools that promote their continued language and knowledge development. As a PhD candidate, you will be able to design your own project and formulate your own research questions within this research direction, thereby contributing new knowledge that can develop teaching and students' language and reading development.
