The Semiconductor Procurement team is a global team with the purpose of building relationships with our semiconductor vendors to achieve design for resilience, supply chain transparency and being at the forefront of technology. We are part of the procurement department working closely with our buyers and engineering departments. We are on an exciting journey, working together in a fast-paced global environment to break new ground in many aspects of our operations. What you'll do
In this role, you will lead and support cross-functional business projects for incoming components in our strategic electronic control units in the cars. You will be responsible for the relationship with our semiconductor manufacturers which means working with partnership, new collaboration models and direct negotiation. This includes preparation, implementation, analysis, negotiation, supplier selection and contract management. You will support, develop and implement supplier strategies, create and maintain commercial relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. You will be working closely with our engineering department to align the business to the technical strategy.
You enjoy working proactively with key stakeholders to understand your components, its market, delivery base and potential innovation, to find ways to increase the value of Volvo Cars, including cost, quality and sustainability.
What you'll bring
- You have experience of doing business in an international environment with global suppliers where a strong business acumen is a prerequisite as well as an ability to shift between short term focus and long-term ambitions. You gain the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
- You have at least a few years of experience in Commercial and/or Engineering work and have previous experiences with the electronics market, commercial negotiations and legal knowledge.
- A structured and organized approach that enables complexity and different interfaces.
- Confidence to act in an international environment and influence stakeholders, and fluent communication in English. If you also speak Mandarin and Swedish, it is beneficial.
- Consistency in achieving results, even under tough circumstances and an active search for new opportunities, by using both formal and informal development channels.
- A collaborative approach and drive to meet shared objectives.
- Knowledge and skills from supplier management and contractual topics, such as fact-based negotiations/discussions.
- A Business or Technical University degree in Electronics (or equivalent).
