About the Trainee Program

Through our employees' diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, we ensure sustainable development. Our trainee program aims to develop the retail leaders of the future.

Deichmann's trainee program means that participants gain insight into various parts of our business, such as sales, personnel management, and budgeting. Practical work is combined with theory, and you will gain a broad insight into the work in our stores, as well as a solid leadership training. During the 8 months the program runs, you will get to know Deichmann as a company, our concept, and our values. You will:

  • rotate between different stores and gain a broad insight into our various roles
  • participate in workshops and training
  • work in different teams that provide you with insights, lessons, and networking
  • have a mentor who coaches you and helps you navigate

As a trainee, you will be trained under a mentor full-time in several of our stores during an 8-month fixed-term employment. During the program, you will be based in a flagship store, but the role also includes work in other stores in the district: Västra Frölunda, Nordstan, Angered, Borås, Kungälv, and Trollhättan. The trainee program lasts for 8 months, starting as soon as possible.

About the Job

You will work closely with the store manager. Together with the store manager and our sales staff, you will help ensure that the store continues to be a good workplace and an equally attractive place to shop as all our other stores in Sweden.

About You

You will be trained in the industry and the concept of Deichmann Shoes through practical training in our store. Therefore, it is not necessary to have experience from the shoe industry, but it is a requirement that you have experience in retail. It is an advantage if you have previous leadership experience from retail or restaurants. Keep in mind that store work can be physically demanding. You must be at least 18 years old to work with us.

In your role as a trainee, it is important that you understand the store manager's role. As a store manager, you participate in the daily store operations and are part of the team. At the same time, you are a trustworthy role model who sees the big picture, motivates, and clarifies through a focus on sales and cost goals, customer service, and employee satisfaction in the store. We are looking for a person who:

  • has a great interest in shoes
  • has experience in retail
  • is ambitious and service-oriented
  • has a good sense of humor and the willingness to take on significant responsibility
  • can handle a sometimes stressful everyday life
  • is an unpretentious and motivating person who wants to develop their management and leadership skills
