The Defense Health Care Skövde is an integrated occupational health service with the Swedish Armed Forces as the client. We differ from commonly occurring occupational health services by providing, in addition to occupational health care, also health and medical care for students and conscripts, as well as medical preparedness during military exercises and operations.

Main Responsibilities

Health and medical care for conscripts and students as well as occupational health care for all employed staff. The work includes health-promoting, preventive, treatment, and rehabilitative tasks. The responsibilities include teaching and participating in development work.

Conducting your own physical training is also a work task.

Service at other Defense Health Care facilities and workplaces may occur.

Requirements for the Position

• Licensed physician with relevant specialist competence
• Approximately five years of professional experience
• Driving license (driving is part of the job)

• Education and experience in occupational health care
• Experience in development work and/or routine work
• Experience from service in the Armed Forces

The position is located at the Defense Health Care in Skövde, but business trips may occur. Working hours may include inconvenient times, as well as irregular scheduling, as we maintain medical preparedness during operations and exercises.

Skövde Garrison and the Garrison Unit

Skövde Garrison is one of Sweden's largest military garrisons with over 2000 employees. The garrison consists of several units from the Armed Forces, all with the main task of training and developing combat units. The breadth of the training activities includes assault units with tanks and armored vehicles, through supporting units such as artillery, command, medical, and other logistics units, to military schools with professional officer training at various levels as well as staffs for several command levels primarily within the army.

Within Skövde garrison operates the Garrison Unit. The unit is responsible for providing competencies and services in several areas of operation. The more extensive areas consist of health care within the framework of occupational health care for employed personnel and daily health care for conscripts, security services, and secure transportation, as well as the establishment of training and firing ranges from Borås in the south to Älvdalen in the north. The unit also provides support in sports and wellness, where the responsibility for fixed training facilities lies, various occupational health functions such as environment, fire protection, and electrical safety, as well as support for conscripts through conscription consultants.

Furthermore, the unit is responsible for a large part of the garrison's common training arrangements and actively works to develop these to be an accessible and modern resource based on the needs of the units.

The Garrison Unit is organized and dimensioned to operate in all conflict scales, which means that all employees are subject to service obligation and are therefore obliged to continue to serve in heightened readiness.

Skaraborg Regiment, P 4 has operations from Älvdalen in the north to Remmene in the south. The leadership is located in Skövde where the majority of conscript training takes place. The regiment's task is to recruit and train conscripts and personnel for two armored battalions, a heavy transport company, and a brigade reconnaissance company. P 4 is also responsible for a brigade staff that in crisis and war will lead large parts of the army's units.
