Göteborgs Föreningscenter is entering an exciting phase as we launch our own café operations in our existing premises. We are looking for an innovative and experienced café manager who wants to build, run, and develop the café into a vibrant meeting place for civil society and collaborative partners.

Main Responsibilities

• Establish the café operations from scratch: Design routines for operations, hygiene, finance, purchasing, and staffing.
• Develop menus, pricing, and product range with a focus on sustainability and the needs of the target audience.
• Be responsible for daily operations: opening, closing, cash handling, and customer service.
• Plan and carry out the purchase of goods and consumables, as well as maintain contact with suppliers.
• Ensure that the operations comply with applicable food regulations and environmental requirements.
• Collaborate with GFC's other activities and contribute to an inclusive meeting place.
• Receive orders at events and association activities.
• Introduce and mentor volunteers, interns, or participants in labor market initiatives.
• Participate in marketing and communication of the café.
• Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment in line with our values.
• Evening and weekend work may occur, but the position mainly involves daytime work Monday to Friday.

Qualifications (requirements)

• Documented experience of working in a café or restaurant, preferably in a leadership role.
• Experience in starting up or developing a business within café, restaurant, or similar.
• Knowledge of purchasing, budgeting, ordering routines, and financial follow-up.
• Good knowledge of hygiene and food legislation.
• Ability to work independently, create structure, and take initiative.
• Good Swedish in speech and writing, as well as basic English.

Meritorious

• Experience working within civil society, the non-profit sector, or social services.
• Experience mentoring volunteers, interns, or individuals in job training.
• Interest in sustainability, local products, and fair trade.
• Skills in basic marketing, e.g., social media or event planning.

About Göteborgs Föreningscenter

Göteborgs Föreningscenter is an umbrella organization, meeting place, and development center for civil society organizations in Gothenburg. GFC operates without profit motives and is religiously and politically independent. Among GFC's 118 member organizations are non-profit associations, cooperatives, network organizations, and foundations. The operations are led by a board consisting of representatives from member organizations and individuals with special competence in social work within the non-profit sector. GFC currently has five employees.

The main task of GFC is to provide service and support to member organizations. An important service is to provide premises. At Mellangatan 1, there are offices and office hotels for member organizations. At Södra Allégatan 1B in the same building, GFC manages the Meeting Place with meeting and conference rooms as well as café operations. For many years, GFC has also been conducting contact person activities.
