Job Responsibilities

As a nurse at the psychiatric emergency department, you are welcomed to a workplace where you have the opportunity to develop alongside an experienced team and where you will grow with your task. Your work will consist of making an initial assessment of patients who come to us, in close collaboration with doctors. Telephone advice is also part of your work to clarify care needs and recommend the right level of care.

About the Workplace

The psychiatric emergency department in Västerås is part of the highly specialized care at Västmanlands Hospital with a regional mission. The catchment area has about 300,000 inhabitants and the department receives approximately 5,000 applicants per year. At the department, we have a close and team-based working method where the team consists of nurses, caregivers, doctors, and unit managers.

At the psychiatric emergency department, there is Mobile Acute Psychiatry (MAP), which is a project that includes several different parts and aims to complement existing services consisting of inpatient and outpatient care.

Qualifications

To be eligible to apply, you need to be a licensed nurse. It is an advantage if you are a specialist-trained psychiatric nurse or have previous experience in psychiatric nursing. MI training is advantageous, but if you lack it, you will have the opportunity to take it with us. The position requires good Swedish skills, both spoken and written, and other language skills are a great advantage. It is also a plus if you have knowledge of the Cosmic journal system.

We are looking for someone who is confident in their role as a nurse. You have a genuine interest in people and psychiatry and a strong empathetic ability. In work situations, you can maintain your calm and prioritize even in acute or unexpected situations. Since the role involves contacts with many different entities, it is important that you are attentive and can collaborate well with others. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who is eager to show commitment to development work.

Permanent employment, full-time. Working hours include days/evenings/weekends.
