The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with addiction. SiS also implements secure care for youth. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with addiction, across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. SiS youth home Stigby on Visingsö has room for about 30 young people and receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and addiction. We are divided into a MBB department (reception and needs assessment), four treatment departments, and we also have an aftercare unit in Jönköping.

Job Description

Do you want to help create life-changing differences for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your assignment is to motivate our young people to new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and security of our young people and provide the foundation for daily life, such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. You help maintain order and security in the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building secure relationships and contribute to ensuring that our young people receive the safety and security they need to break habitual behaviors. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule with day, evening, and weekend shifts.

As a temporary worker at SiS, you will undergo a tailored introductory training to prepare you for your assignment.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformation. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of humanity, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in stressful situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You should also have:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education that corresponds to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
  • Completed secondary education
  • Driver's license B
  • Good Swedish in speech and writing

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Education and/or experience in care and social services
  • Experience working with our target group (youth care/youth treatment)
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., correctional officer
  • Security guard training

*Exceptions to the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).

Employment:

The position is a temporary/sessional employment.

Temporary employment during the spring and autumn of 2026 and summer substitutes during June-August 2026.

Start date by agreement.
