Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Långanäs

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

SiS Youth Home Långanäs receives non-compulsory school boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse.

Job Description

Do you want to help create life-changing transformations for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. SiS Youth Home Långanäs in Eksjö has opened several new departments over the past year and will, in conjunction with the new year, also increase the number of employees in the departments. This is to ensure a good working environment and opportunities for professional development. We are therefore looking for several treatment pedagogues who want to contribute their knowledge and be the ones who stay.

As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work and provide support in everyday life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work, contributing to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You help maintain safety according to our routines and contribute to the smooth running of daily activities such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. Being a contact person is also one of your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in a difficult life situation. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our commitment, and our attitude.

Working hours are according to a schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations. You will also participate in a three-day introduction at Långanäs during your first shifts.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of people. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations, and you share SiS's core values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are self-assured and easily build relationships with young people as well as with others in the staff group. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in stressful situations. You collaborate well with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

You should also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or a degree from a university that we assess as equivalent
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written

Meritorious are:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., probation officer
  • Security guard training
  • Experience working with youth care/older boys

At SiS, we care about good employee engagement. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more about our employee engagement.
