Treatment Assistant at SiS Youth Home Långanäs

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

SiS Youth Home Långanäs accepts non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse.

Job Description

Do you want to help create life-changing differences for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. SiS Youth Home Långanäs has opened several new departments over the past year and will, in conjunction with the new year, also increase the number of employees in the departments. This is to ensure a good working environment and opportunities for professional development. Therefore, we are looking for treatment assistants who want to contribute to change and be the one who stays.

The goal of your assignment is to motivate our youth to new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and security of our youth and form the basis of daily life, such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You help maintain order and safety in the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building secure relationships and contribute to ensuring that our youth receive the safety and security they need to break old habits. Together with your team of engaged colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our commitment, and our attitude.

Working hours are according to a schedule of days, evenings, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS's basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations. You will also participate in a three-day introduction at Långanäs during your first shifts.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformation. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of people, a high degree of empathy, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You should also have:

  • A minimum of a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant field.
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • Good Swedish language skills in both speech and writing

Preferred qualifications include:
