The Department of Health, Learning, and Technology conducts education at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. The department offers education for nurses, radiographers, several programs for specialist nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and a bachelor's degree in health guidance and psychology. Research and doctoral education within the subjects of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nursing, and psychology are conducted within the department. We are now looking for a professor in nursing. Within the subject of nursing at Luleå University of Technology, there are three thematic areas: Experiencing acute illness or injury, Promoting health throughout life, and Recovery-oriented psychiatric care.
Subject Description
Nursing focuses on areas aimed at improving people's health, preventing ill health and disease, as well as restoring and preserving health, alleviating suffering, and safeguarding human integrity and dignity. Central areas include the human being and health, environment, and nursing actions and processes related to these areas.
Job Responsibilities
As a professor in nursing, you will lead and further develop research and educational activities within the subject. You will follow the international development of the subject, supervise doctoral students, initiate and drive research projects, and disseminate research results through scientific publications. You are expected to contribute to bringing in external research funding to the subject, as well as being active within the national and international research community. Teaching, supervision, and examination within the nursing, radiography, and specialist nursing programs are part of the role. Together with subject representatives, professors, associate professors, and university lecturers, you will be responsible for the development of the subject at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. The position requires good collaboration skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. The ability to collaborate with the surrounding community, communicate research, and develop and establish national networks is of great importance.
Qualifications
Eligible for appointment as a professor is someone who has demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical competence. Equal care should be given to the assessment of pedagogical and scientific competence.
To meet the requirements for appointment as a professor, the applicant must:
- be distinguished in their field and demonstrate scientific work of high international standard, showing a clear quality progression
- have a total scientific production that in quantity corresponds to at least three doctoral theses including the doctoral thesis
- demonstrate academic leadership, including:
- experience in research-related trust assignments such as expert, opponent, and/or member of grading committees
- experience in leading research projects
- experience in competitively seeking and being awarded external funding for research projects as the main applicant
- experience in internal assignments within the university
- experience in pedagogical leadership
- have experience in supervising at the doctoral level and, unless there are exceptional reasons, have been the main supervisor for at least one doctoral student from admission to doctoral degree
- demonstrate pedagogical competence through reflective experience, teaching skills, and teaching development
- demonstrate the ability to collaborate with the surrounding community, including:
- making new knowledge accessible to the surrounding community
- incorporating societal needs into research and/or educational contexts.

- Ability to teach in Swedish and English
